Long absence, cleaning gallery, new contribution.

There was a long time since my last activity on :devart:. One of the reasons was that my previous camera (Sony DSC-P92) was broken. Finaly, some days ago, I just bought new, better one: Canon Powershot S5. That means I lost an excuse for poor pictures: bad camera ;) So, if I put a bad picture here you can honestly blame me for it ;)

You can expect new contribution soon. But I tell you a secret: I still cannot make a good picture ;) So, if you just tell me "that picture is bad and ugly" - it's nothing new to me :P I *really* like comments - especially those ones saying how good photo I made! But constructive critic is appreciated too - tell me what's wrong with picture/composition/whatever and I'll try do to my best next time.

I am going to do some cleaning in my gallery. Certainly, I'll left pictures which I *really* like and those with :+fav::+fav: So, if there is sth in my gallery which catches your eyes and nobody like it earlier that's the last call: fav it now! This offer is time limited, money back guaranteed ;)

PS. If you like to see mine photo stream of consciousness visit blipgaleria (Polish language site).

PS2. Do you remember my previous note? I am happy user of nVidia now :D

PS3. 2054 deviations and 546 messages to see. ^^; Shall I put it do /dev/null?

I do not like ATI

The problem is that ATI fglrx drivers do not work with current Xorg server (graphic environment for Linux, to say it simple). I won't bore you with technical details - If you like to know more just read some external sources:
- bug report in Debian BTS
- forum rage3d
- official ATI BTS

What I want to say here is that I am really disappointed about how ATI treats their users. Knowing their previous attitude towards Linux community (ATI drivers for amd64 architecture were released much later than nVidia ones) I expect that solving this problem shall take them a lot of time. If I were to bet I would tell sth about 3 months or more. You can track the case on your own using the last from above links.

One can say that Linux market is still too small to be considered seriously. But even 1% of their income from graphic cards would be much more than sufficient for hiring a guy like Keith Packard to provide a much better support. And one should know that more than 1% PC users have Linux on their boxes. I would estimate it as something between 10% and 15%. It's quite a big share to have an income. Additionally, I heard some rumor that Windows Vista will trigger more people to switching to Linux. So, it is unwise to disregard this part of market.

I hoped that buying ATI by AMD will change things for the better - as far as I know AMD has a good position in Linux community. We will see how this case would be handled. But so far I still advise against ATI if you want to buy a graphic card for Linux. Even nVidia has better drivers and better attitude towards Linux community. But if I want to buy a new card just now I would buy an Intel product - it is the place where Keith Packard works :)

Animals - Introduction

As you can see there is a lot of animals on my pictures. Why? It's simple. They are very grateful models :) Sometimes they do so amazing poses that I just cannot resist watching them. And I regret I do not have a camera with me all the time. But even doing some occasional shots it's hard to resist an urge of flooding you with megabytes of pictures :XD:

It is strange in some way, but except two hamsters in childhood (naq gurer jnf ab fgvpxl gncr vaibyirq, creiregf >=)) I never have a pet. But spending every year summer holidays with my grandmother on the countryside I had a contact with domestic animals. Then I grow up and I had visited my grandma rarely. My contact with animals were rare too.
To my surprise some day I noticed I afraid of dogs! :fear:

Some years passed, I meet Caroline. After some time we become close to each other  and some day we shacked up together. Because she always was a pet-loving person, animals again stepped into my life. And with the benefit of inventory I received two cats :)
I'll introduce them soon.

To be continued...
